Ingredients
- 4 oz unsalted butter plus extra for buttering pan
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light molasses
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp ground ginger (or taste)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9-inch cake pan and set aside.
- Cream remaining 4 oz butter with brown sugar. Beat until fluffy, add molasses, then beat in the eggs.
- Add flour, baking soda, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves and allspice
- Add vanilla extract and buttermilk then turn into pan
- Bake for 25-30 min (check at 25). Cool on rack.
