Makes: 16 oz. of sauce
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or olive or avocado oil)
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1/4 New Mexico or California Chili powder
- 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth (alternatively, use water)
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Directions
- Heat oil in a saucepan on medium-high heat. Stir in flour and chili powder, reduce heat to medium and cook until lightly brown, stirring constantly
- Stir in tomato sauce, broth, cumin, garlic and onion powder until smooth
- Continue cooking for approximately 10 minutes or until desired thickness
